Serving Southwest Nebraska
Simply Strings is a community group that brings together musicians of all ages and skill levels. We have an annual concert, usually in the fall. Our membership includes novice string players still in elementary school and retired music teachers enjoying the camaraderie of making music together. We typically have several sectionals followed by six Saturday large-group rehearsals before each concert. In addition, smaller groups perform throughout the year, taking our music to audiences that otherwise would never have a chance to hear it. The orchestra has grown since its beginning, and has been proud host to guest artist Dr. David Littrell, emeritus conductor of the K-State Orchestra and the Gold Orchestra.

Thanks to generous grants from the McCook Arts Council, Nebraska Arts Council, and McCook Community Foundation Fund, Simply Strings members participate in the orchestra free of charge. We encourage our members to pursue private music lessons with one of our local music teachers, but private lessons are not a requirement of membership. Ready to give it a try? Send us a message and we’ll get back to you with details about music and rehearsals. We’d love more basses, cellos, violas, and violins!
